Hemophilia - Patient expert - Honorary doctor
I was born in 1951 with a rare disease, severe hemophilia.
During my life, I gained some other diseases and now I am a so-called 'patient expert'.
I have been active for more than fifty years in several patient organisations nationally and internationally and so I also became a patient advocate.
For my scientific and societal work on hemophilia, patient participation and biotechnology, I received an honorary doctorate from the college of deans of the University of Amsterdam in 2003.
In August 2020 my autobiography ‘Surviving hemophilia’ has been published in
English.
